What inspires/stirs up your creative juice the most?

Unread postby Shine for Christ » Thu Apr 28, 2005 8:24 am

Here's an interesting survey. Man are created to lead and woman create to help man. God is a creative God! Or else He wouldn't have create heaven and the earth or even humans. Creativity plays an important role in leadership. It can make us flexible and open new ways to solve problems.
Here's a polling session to see the majority of men. What ways will inspire us the most? This may help us to understand our need better. Perhaps. Perhaps different age groups have different ways too. It maybe good to share it out. Who knows... it may impact other brothers in Christ?

Creative inspiration and critical analysis

Unread postby musicmonkey » Thu Apr 28, 2005 10:54 am

Interesting question. When it comes to creativity, I definitely need inspiration and good music. I get creative spurts usually at night. And I usually have to be in the right frame of mind. For me, creativity is something that needs to be free flowing. During a brainstorm session, no ideas are bad. Brainstorming is all about throwing everything on the table and just spewing forth what comes to mind without fear of rejection. Critical analysis and discernment can come after brainstorming is over.

There is a music and arts festival I go to on Orcas Island, Washingon every summer. I watch the arts and crafts tents at night. All the children and teenagers at night are so inspiring. The live music plays, the torch candles are lit, the dry leaves crack under your feet. And the artists create. It's amazing. I wish there was a more God-centered Burning Man. Perhaps someday, I want to have a live-work cyber studio artist-collective men's retreat center in the woods when I grow up Wink

That will be awesome. For me, movies or video played an important to me. It's an combination of music and visuals together.

I am most inspired when I am with nature, in a park, a garden, in the forest, sometimes even sitting in my back yard. A good song, a inspiring conversation with a close friend will also stir up the creative juices in me. Its almost always spontaneous and not preplanned. Worship will stir in me ideas as well.

Ya! During my days when I'm studying at secondary school. I have more spare time. I would take effort to go to parks and garden, taking my sketchbook along and my walkman to enjoy the peace.
I realised a majority of the crowd are easily inspired by music. I realized the advantage of drawing in the parks and garden is that quietness. When you listen to your favourite list of songs together with the quietness in the surrounding. My 'self' was in a state of calmness and my mental doors are opened wide for ideas. Ideas keep pouring in like rain.
